The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) has announced the assignment of Marty A. Fury as the Deputy Director of the Office of Field Programs for VA’s National Cemetery Administration in Washington, DC effective Dec. 1. As Deputy Director, he will be responsible for helping oversee the Nation’s 131 National Cemeteries.
A U.S. Marine Corps Veteran who served tours oversees in Iraq, Fury most recently served as director at Long Island National Cemetery in Farmingdale, NY, from August 2013. He also served as Director at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Chicago and Rock Island National Cemetery in the Quad Cities, IL.
Fury began his career with NCA in 2006 when he was selected through a nationwide competitive process to participate in the Cemetery Director Intern Program held at the NCA National Training Center in St. Louis. His training included comprehensive study and hands on practice of all national cemetery operations.
Fury grew up in White Sulphur Springs, and graduated from Greenbrier East High School in 1994. He is the son of Wilson Bryant of White Sulphur Springs and Barbara Benge of Caldwell.
