Charlottesville, VA-Marietta Katherine Dillon Morgan, 91, passed away peacefully on Friday, Apr. 1, 2016, at Our Lady of Peace in Charlottesville, VA.
Katherine was born Nov. 13, 1924, in Lindside, to Paul Dillon and Harriet Miller.
She lived in Lewisburg for many years, formerly of Peterstown and Alexandria, VA. Katherine cherished her three sons, 11 grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved to cook and care for her family, the ultimate Betty Crocker, unfortunately taking her fried apple pie recipe with her, (we could not duplicate her patting her hands together, while saying a little bit of this and a little bit of that). She loved playing Skipbo with the grandkids, walking downtown and whatever else to be included in the fun. Although she was the queen of gardening and canning, it looked like more work than fun. She was always smiling and the guiding light of the family, as we remember her and as we sift through the pictures and remember her today. Katherine also loved her faith and her church, an active member most recently of Fairlea Baptist Church until her health declined. She also was a true and devoted caregiver in helping care for her mother-in-law, sister-in-law and brother-in-law until their deaths. She never complained even through the worst of health.
In addition to her parents, she was pre-deceased by her beloved husband, Joseph G. Morgan (2009), brothers James Dillon and Bryan Dillon.
Katherine is survived by: her brothers, Elwood Dillon (Charlottesville) and Kenneth Dillon (Raleigh, NC). She leaves behind many wonderful, loving and thoughtful memories to her sons, Perry (Judy), of Gilbert, AZ, Sam (Peggy) of Charlottesville, VA and Stan (Sheryl) of Beckley; and her grandchildren, Kristina Morgan Standish of Springfield, IL, (great-grandchildren, Matthew, Evan and Hailie), Natalie Morgan Miller of Phoenix, AZ, Meagan Morgan Connelly of Gilbert (Kevon), (great-grandchildren, Sean, Mason, Riley and Ayden), Jamie and Taylor Morgan of Gilbert, Katie Morgan Storer of Charlottesville (Justin), (great-grandchildren, Huck and Zoe), Sarah Morgan of Charlottesville and Danny Morgan of Washington, DC, Chris Morgan of Woodstock, GA (Becci), (great -granddaughter, Savanna), Heather King of Tallahassee, FL (Clete), (great-granddaughters, Danielle and Paige King) and Lucretia Bennett of Nashville, TN.
Many thanks and blessings to the entire staff at Our Lady of Peace in Charlottesville, VA for the kindness, care and love provided for our beloved mother and “Granny” these past few years.
