Miller Hypes
Alderson-Margaret Frances Miller Hypes, 94, passed away early Sunday morning, Oct. 12, 2014, at Greenbrier Valley Medical Center, Fairlea, following a sudden illness.
Born Jan. 10, 1920, in Summers County, she was the daughter of the late George and Mamie Mann Miller.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, David Luck Hypes; daughter and son-in-law, Helen and Richard Wiseman; son-in-law, Wayne Boone; granddaughter, Jane Wiseman; grandson, John Luck Hypes; brother and sister-in-law, Harvey and Judith Miller; and nephew, George Miller.
Mrs. Hypes was a graduate of Hinton High School and a graduate of the Charleston General Hospital School of Nursing, having graduated as a Registered Nurse with a degree in nursing. After graduation, she served as a Cadet Nurse during World War II, stationed in Louisiana. At the close of the war, she returned to Summers County where she married her fiancé, David Luck Hypes, a returning World War II soldier.
Survivors include: son, Richard Hypes and wife Sharon; daughter, Frances Boone, with whom she made her home; grandson, David Wiseman; two granddaughters, Christy Hypes-Dolan and husband Melvin and Helen Bennett and husband Chad; two great-granddaughters, Sarah and Margaret Humphrey; nephew, Dr. James Miller and wife Linda of Hinton; and special friend, June Willey.
Graveside services and burial were on Wednesday, Oct. 15, at the Hypes Family Cemetery on the Hypes Farm at Clayton, where Pastor Grant Petitt officiated.
Friends called Wednesday, Oct. 15, before the services at the Lobban Funeral Home, Alderson.
Serving as pallbearers were: Melvin Dolan, David Wiseman, Andy Humphrey, Dr. James Miller, Bill Humphrey, Billy Mann, Eugene Milam and Scott Majerick.
The family casket spray was designed and made by Mrs. Hypes’s granddaughter, Christy Hypes-Dolan.
