Lewisburg-Lorraine Elizabeth Christian Dartt, 86, claimed her angel wings after a courageous battle with breast cancer Thursday, Jan. 14, 2021, at the Peyton Hospice House in Lewisburg.
Lorraine was born on July 4, 1934, in Vago, WV, the daughter of the late Roy and Christina Wykle Christian.
Lorraine married John Dartt on Nov. 2, 1973. John predeceased Lorraine on July 9, 2009, after 35 years of marriage.
In addition to her parents and husband, Lorraine was preceded in death by: stepdaughter, Joy Dartt; brothers, Roy Jr., Henry, Joseph, and William Christian; grandparents, Thomas Henry and Hattie Clemons Christian, and Ernest and Lora Honaker; Wykle; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Benjamin and Rosa Dartt.
Lorraine is survived by: brother, Samuel Christian and wife Linda of Lewisburg; sisters, Geri Orton and companion Bill Calkins of Plainfield, VT, Norma Carter of Ronceverte, and Doris Scruggs and husband Curtis of Lewisburg; sister-in-law, Irene Reed Christian of Prince George, VA; and many nieces and nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews.
Lorraine was a member of the Ronceverte Baptist Church. Her employment included working for Glen Eagle Men’s Raincoat Factory in Bel Air, MD, Fairlea Lanes Bowling Alley, and she was a childcare provider for various families in Akron, OH and the Lewisburg and Ronceverte areas. Lorraine was a fun-loving and kind-spirited person who was happiest when doing for others. She loved spending time with family and friends, enjoyed word search books, taking walks, and found comfort in reading her Bible.
There was a walkthrough visitation at Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home, Lewisburg, on Tuesday, Jan. 19.
Due to Covid-19, a graveside service, with Rev. Gary Baker officiating, was held at Rosewood Cemetery in Lewisburg.
A memorial service for Lorraine will be held at a later date.
