Greenbrier County Schools will celebrate student artistry in the 2nd Annual Showcase of the Arts on Apr. 29 at Eastern Greenbrier Middle School. The event will kick off at 6 p.m. with a student art show featuring selected works from each school in the county. The art show will be followed by musical showcase involving 240 students in choral and instrumental performances.
Earlier this school year, Greenbrier County public school students were invited to enter the GCS Showcase for the Arts logo contest. Logo designs in black and white (any medium) were judged on originality and the degree to which the design celebrated all of the arts.
Katrielle Sanguancheep, a 5th grade student at Lewisburg Elementary, was recognized at the March meeting of the Board of Education for submitting the winning logo. With support from the Greater Greenbrier Valley Community Foundation, Sanguancheep’s design will be printed on event T-shirts for student participants and promotional materials, including buttons for teachers to wear the night of the showcase.
