Performances begin next week
Greenbrier Valley Theatre will present Guys and Dolls Sr., a joyful, concert-style production performed by community actors ages 55 and older, Feb. 4 through 7, 2026.
Guys and Dolls Sr. showcases the talents of older adult performers in a vibrant, accessible format that highlights music, character, and community. The production reflects Greenbrier Valley Theatre’s ongoing commitment to inclusive programming and creative opportunities for artists of all ages.
The opportunity to perform has injected excitement into the community and talented local seniors are embracing this opportunity to perform at a professional theatre. Performers of all backgrounds and experiences are performing roles in the production.
Charley and LJ Fauber jumped at the chance to be part of Guys and Dolls Sr. The Faubers have been married for 54 years and have lived in Lewisburg since 1986. Charley, a music teacher for 33 years and church choir director for 25 years, is playing the part of Nicely-Nicely Johnson. LJ, a retired speech therapist who sang in the church choir and other productions will be playing the part of Bertha.
“I love doing something out of my box,” says LJ. “It is fun to meet new people and to be part of the production. We are very lucky to live in a place where activities are offered for people of all ages. Thank you to Greenbrier Valley Theatre for offering an experience for older adults.”
The opportunity to work with his wife is special for Charley. “I have worked with LJ for 54 years,” says Charley. “She is my right hand person and my biggest cheerleader. We have always made a good team.”
The Faubers are excited to share this experience with friends and family. “My children and grandchildren will be front and center at our performances,” says LJ. “Many of the church choir members and community friends have already bought tickets.”
The Faubers are hopeful that additional opportunities to perform will happen in the future.
“I would love to be a part of future productions,” says Charley. “It has been wonderful to work with people with talents and different abilities. It is always good to challenge yourself in new ways.”
Guys and Dolls SR. is presented through special arrangement with Music Theatre International (MTI). All authorized performance materials are also supplied by MTI.
