Timothy Luce has invented an automatic chicken and pet door called “Slick Chick” that you can open and close with Alexa, a smartphone, tablet, or set to open on a schedule or in sync with the sun.
The Luce family lives on a historic farm, but maintains a modern-paced life. They can be seen making daily trips to town for errands or activities with their children. “When we decided to add chickens to our array of animals on the farm, I knew I needed to develop an automated door that would maximize the chicken’s ability to forage during daylight, and minimize the headache of planning our schedule around the chickens,” remarked inventor Timothy Luce.
“As a chicky momma, I love our chickens, and I want them to be happy and protected, so I was super happy when Timothy told me about his Slick Chick idea,” commented his wife, Angela.
A long-time tinkerer with several inventions under his belt already, Timothy gets a twinkle in his eye whenever he talks about Slick Chick. “I was stoked when I figured out how to integrate the door with Amazon Alexa. That was a real bonus.” Timothy added.
Slick Chick actually works with more than just Alexa, it is also compatible with Google Assistant, or any WiFi enabled iOS, or Android device. You can control Slick Chick from anywhere you have an internet connection, including soccer games, and while you are at the movies, or you can just let it do its thing automatically in sync with the sun. It also has an available solar powered option.
