The White Sulphur Lions have been very active during September and October. Several members of the group were on hand for the annual 9/11 Tribute on three area bridges as other members were busy selling rifle raffle tickets. Ticket sales will continue through Nov. 27. They have also participated in Adopt a Highway, the local food pantry, and buying school supplies for the elementary school.
Next on the agenda is the community blood drive scheduled for Oct. 20 at the library beginning at 12:45 p.m. (please donate!) and participating in the Trunk or Treat Event at the Battleground Shopping Center. Leo the Lion will be there to help hand out treats.
Please bring any used eyeglasses to the Trunk or Treat celebration from 6 to 8 p.m. on Halloween; they will be recycled and put to good use. Lions also provide eye exams and eyeglasses to locals who cannot afford them.
The White Sulphur Lions Club meets at 7 p.m. each second and fourth Monday at the St. Thomas Episcopal Church on Main Street. They always welcome new members.
