Lewisburg has just been named the second safest city in West Virginia by SafeWise, a home security and advisory company.
From its study SafeWise evaluated all cities in the State above 3,320 in population who provided crime data to the FBI. Crime data reviewed included violent crimes (aggravated assault, murder, rape and robbery) and in some cases property crimes (burglary, arson, larceny-theft, and motor vehicle theft) per capita.
Lewisburg Police Chief Tim Stover expressed appreciation to SafeWise for assembling the data, “because it shows that Lewisburg is a very safe place to live. By extension their study also points out the quality of our police force and our officers’ commitment to training and professional development that helps keep our community safe,” Chief Stover stated.
Lewisburg Mayor John Manchester added “we are extremely fortunate to have the caliber of quality leadership on the police force that we find in Chief Stover and all Lewisburg police officers. Safe communities do not happen by accident. Lewisburg City Council is proud to provide the financial resources needed to keep our police department strong and our community safe.”
