The Lewisburg Literary Festival (LLF) is a vibrant two-day event featuring visiting authors, outdoor and performance art, writing workshops and theater – all inspired by literature. The fifth annual event will take place in downtown Lewisburg on Friday, Aug. 5, and Saturday, Aug. 6.
This year’s lineup of guest authors include No. 1 New York Times and USA Today best-selling author Sara Gruen (“Water for Elephants” and “At the Water’s Edge”); author and Washington Post feature writer Neely Tucker, who is currently following the presidential campaign for the Post; and Matthew Null, West Virginia native and recipient of the Joseph Brodsky Rome Prize from the American Academy of Arts and Letters and the Mary McCarthy Prize (“Honey from the Lion”). Mainstage authors will speak at Carnegie Hall on Saturday, Aug. 6: Gruen will speak at 7 p.m., Tucker at 3 p.m., and Null at 1 p.m.
Not only will literary enthusiasts be able to enjoy these incredible authors and speakers, they’ll also be able to participate in writing workshops hosted by Sherrell Wigal (poetry), Jessie Van Eerden (fiction and nonfiction) and Sandy Tritt (fiction).
Other activities include a live performance of Dr. Michael Adelman’s popular West Virginia Public Television’s children’s show Abracadabra at the Greenbrier County Library, a free showing of “Water for Elephants” at The Lewis Theatre, interactive art installation in the Green Space, children’s activities, and much more.
While LLF activities are free and open to the public, tickets to see Sara Gruen, Neely Tucker and Matthew Null are complimentary but required for admission. Call 888-716-5082 to reserve yours. Limit six per person.
