The Lewisburg House and Garden Club met Oct. 26 at the First Baptist Church in Fairlea for their monthly meeting. President Jeri Via presided and the hostess was Dee Myers. Chef Lisa Carter gave a program on her adventures as a chef and her current involvement with the Alderson Farmers Market. She began with an overview of the hours and locations of the three local farmers markets in White Sulphur Springs, Lewisburg and Alderson. Carter and her husband, Sandy, are long-standing vendors at the Lewisburg Farmers Market. They are well known not only locally for their bagels but ship them to devotees in other states. She gave a nice slide show presentation and treated the membership to delicious pumpkin cookies.
The nominating committee presented their slate of officers for the coming year and it was unanimously accepted. Marit Withrow has accepted the nomination for president, Sue McKinney for 2nd vice president and Martha Perilli for corresponding secretary. The formal election will be held at the March meeting.
Carrie Sanders, Chair of the Flower Box Committee that cares for the flower boxes at Carnegie Hall, and Carol Olson, Chair of the committee that cares for the two plots at Old Stone Cemetery, reported the flower beds and boxes have been prepared for the winter season waiting to be renewed in the spring.
There being no further business to come before the club, the meeting was adjourned.
