The Lewisburg House and Garden Club met June 25 at the home of Judy Deegans for their monthly meeting. Those attending included Mimi deOlloqui, Joan Montgomery, Dr. Mary Lindquist, Dr. Gretchen Lovett, Carol Olson, Carrie Sanders, Dr. Polley Cunningham, Debbie Floyd, Barb Hiltner, Judy Deegans, Sharon Holladay, Peggy Brown, Marit Withrow, Dee Dotson, Susan Harkness, Lynn Weikle, Jeri Via, Mary Beth Pack, Sue McKinney, and Jennifer Davis. Mimi deOlloqui-Turner made a delicious rhubarb cake with rhubarb sauce served with ice cream.
Joan Montgomery presented the program by bringing a large number of the baskets she has made. She explained the function of each basket and the materials from which they were made. She passed each one around so we could see and handle the basket. It was a delightful program that was very well received. Montgomery is also a talented potter.
The next meeting will be at Appalachian Headwaters Education Center and will include a tour of the gardens and the greenhouse conducted by Bella Walker.
