The Lewisburg Police Department teamed up with the Lewisburg Elementary School to provide active shooter training to teachers and staff on Tuesday, Dec. 5.
The training was held during the two hour delay and PLC for the teachers, and no children were present.
Special Agent Brent Stanze with the Charleston office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) was the instructor. Agent Stanze provided information on reacting to an active shooter event at the school. A video depicting an active shooter event at a college was shown, and discussion was held after the video regarding law enforcement response and how teachers and staff respond. Agent Stanze also discussed the Run, Hide or Fight model for active shooting events. Approximately 30 teachers and staff attended the training, which was coordinated between LES Principal Leanne Piercy McMillion and Lewisburg Police Sgt. J.A. Vance.
