The Veterans in the VA Hospital in Beckley are always in need of personal items. The gift of a toothbrush, shampoo or underclothes is not only meeting those physical needs, it is an important way to thank these brave men and women for their service. With this in mind, the General Andrew Lewis Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) in Lewisburg gathered together several hundred dollars worth of gifts for them.
On Wednesday, Nov. 1, items were delivered to Mrs. Cheryl Yost, voluntary service officer at the VA Hospital for distribution to the men and women. We asked that special attention be paid to the needs of the Vietnam Veterans who are sometimes under-appreciated. Carol Olson and Judy Deegans were pleased to take the gifts to Mrs. Yost.
