Clintonville-Leslie Douglas “Doug” Sarver, 64, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2019, at home after a courageous struggle with a cancerous brain tumor.
Doug was born Dec. 1, 1954, to the late Hampton and Nellie Hall Sarver.
Doug was retired from Greenbrier County where he served his community for over 20 years as a Home Confinement Officer and previously a process server.
Running was a passion as well as taking photographs, planting flowers and playing any musical instrument he laid his hands on. He thoroughly enjoyed feeding the birds, squirrels, deer, turkeys and the occasional raccoon and skunk. Camo was his favorite color.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, William “Bill” Sarver and brother-in-law, John Brown.
He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Nancy; daughters, Amanda Sarver and Amy Morgan; grandchildren, Felicity, Dawson, Keaton, and Keisha; great-grandchildren, Evelyn and Arizona; sisters, Sally Brown, Sue and husband Charles Anderson, Sharnell and husband Mike Hurt; and brother, Pete Sarver and wife Pam; sister-in-law, Margie Loudermilk; and special niece and best bud, Kayla Golding who brought out the kid in him. He will also be missed by his cats, Big Orange, Kerri and Siam; and special friends, Brenda Tincher, Laura Legg, Mary Beth O’Dell, Tim and Angela Lester and Fran McClung.
Family and friends were received Saturday, Oct. 26, at the Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home in Lewisburg.
In lieu of flowers, and in honor of his memory please feed the birds, deer, turkeys or squirrels in your back yard or in the woods near you… enjoy watching them like he did.
In keeping with his wishes his body will be cremated.
Don’t think of him as gone, but as being set free.
