The Ronceverte Woman’s Club (RWC) met for their May meeting on May 27 in the Ronceverte Catholic Church basement.
The guest speaker for the evening was Leah Trent, education director for Carnegie Hall. At the request of the club, she spoke on the Carnegie Kids’ College which will be held July 7-11 and July 14-18. Kids’ College is a summer arts and science program for children who will be entering kindergarten through 7th grade. The primary objectives of Kids’ College are to spark creativity and help each child develop a love of learning through art and science. Kids get to try out many different forms of art, movement and music. Trent said that many of the students need financial aid in the form of scholarships. Since the special project of the General Federation of Woman’s Club West Virginia’s new administration is “Inspire Creativity in Visual and Performing Arts,” the RWC voted to give a scholarship for a deserving child and presented Trent with the donation at the meeting.
