June Aileen Buckner Shaver, 93, passed away on Monday, July 7, 2025, at the Peyton Hospice House in Lewisburg, WV. Born Mar. 1, 1932, in McDowell County, WV, she was the daughter of the late Mary Magdalene Buckner. June was a homemaker who enjoyed flowers and gardening. She also enjoyed sewing and quilting, as she was a former member of the Quilting Guild. She attended the Church of God in Union. She was a wonderful person who never had an unkind word to say about anyone. She always made sure that everyone was taken care of. She especially loved spending time with her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her love and legacy will live on in those that knew and loved her as mom/mamaw. She will always be remembered as a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend.
In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her husband, Murrell Lake Shaver; infant son, Jody Lynn; son, Murrel Lake Shaver II; and daughter, Angel Lea Shaver Woodzell and her husband Harry Lee Woodzell.
Survivors include her daughter, Beverly Shaver of the home; grandchildren, Wyatt Lake William Shaver, and April D. Connick and husband Alan; great-grandchildren, Matthew Harrison Connick and Evan Alexander Connick; daughter-in-law, Sharon Shaver Ridgeway; and several other extended family members and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, July 12, at the Groves-Mann Funeral Home in Union, WV, with Freddie Bostic officiating. Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery on Gates Road, Union, WV, with Pastor Clifford Kuhn officiating. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until time of services on Saturday at the funeral home.
