Judy Mazey Edwards, wife of the late Edwin (Ed) Edwards, passed away Monday, Nov. 6, 2023.
She was the daughter of the late Lucille B. and Zoltan Mazey and sister to Paul Mazey and Norman Mazey of White Sulphur Springs.
Judy was born in New York City on Dec. 13, 1933. Her family moved to White Sulphur Springs in 1945. She graduated from White Sulphur Springs High School in 1952 and graduated from Concord University in 1956 with a B. S. degree in physical education. While at Concord, she served as vice president of the Women’s Athletic Association, voted as Maid of Honor to the May Day Queen, was selected as Sweetheart of the Phi Sigma fraternity and awarded the best girl athlete of her graduating class. She was a member of the Emmanuel United Methodist Church in White Sulphur Springs.
She is survived by three stepdaughters, Sandy Martin (Tony), Amber Kennell and Maureen Edwards. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Laura Spears, Linsey Martin, Crystal Kennell and Edward Kennell; six great-grandchildren; two nieces and three nephews.
Family will receive friends, Saturday, Nov. 11 at Sterling-Ashton-Schwab-Witzke Funeral Home of Catonsville, MD.
On Monday, Nov. 13, the family and friends will celebrate Judy’s life at 11 a.m. at Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home in White Sulphur Springs with Pastor Bobby McClintic officiating. Entombment will follow at Greenbrier Memorial Gardens Mausoleum in Lewisburg.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the American Cancer Society.
