Forest Hill-Joseph Stuart Lewis, IV, 78, died peacefully at home along the Greenbrier River on Saturday, Oct. 11, 2014, after a courageous battle against pancreatic cancer for the past month.
Born May 22, 1936, in Oak Hill, he was the son of the late Joseph Stuart Lewis, Jr., and the late Virginia Kirkwood Lewis.
Survivors include: his loving wife of 37 years, Sandi Johnson Lewis, and four wonderful children, Stuart Lewis and wife Ryan of San Francisco, CA, Mary Elizabeth Lewis of Boulder, CO, Brent Lewis and fiance Carly of Favetteville and Betsy Smith and husband Jacob of Johannesburg, South Africa; and six precious grandchildren, Evelyn, William and Imogene Lewis of San Francisco, CA, Abigail Blaise and Brendon Smith of South Africa.
Joe was an avid fly fisherman enjoying many hours on the water. More importantly, he was a “Fisher of Men,” always ready to cast his line for the Lord. Matthew 4:19 “Come, follow Me and I will make you fishers of men.”
A celebration of Joe’s life will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 25 at Rhema Christian Center in Fairlea, with Pastor Stewart Farley officiating.
