Clintonville-Joseph “Joe” Brett Wilson, 86, passed away Friday, Mar. 4, 2016, at Peyton Hospice House in Fairlea.
He was born Jan. 4, 1930, in Columbus, OH, the son of the late Willard Brett and Elizabeth Jane Tanner Wilson.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Irene Tuckwiller, Edna (Honey) Griffith and Louise Lewis; brothers, Owen Wilson and Raymond Wilson.
Joe worked for his family business and drove for Johnson Trucking before going into the military. In August 1951 he became an active member of the US Air Force serving as an aircraft mechanic for one year until being honorably discharged in December 1952 due to his father’s health. He later worked 26 years for the WV Department of Highways retiring in 1988.
He was a member of Grace Bible Church at Asbury. Joe married Rita Holcomb on Mar. 19, 1953.
Survivors include: his wife of 63 years, Rita Wilson; daughters, Mary Jo Cook (Roger) and Michelle Mann; son, Stephen Wilson (Catherine); grandchildren, Stephen Wilson, Jr., Jeremy Wilson, Travis Cook and Dustin Cooke; great-grandchildren, Tyler Wilson, Ethan and Emma Wilson and Riyah Cooke.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Mar. 13, at Grace Bible Church in Asbury with pastor Don Smith officiating.
Visitation will be held from 1 p.m. until time of service on Sunday, Mar. 13.
At his request, Joe’s body was donated to the human gift registry at the WV School of Osteopathic Medicine in Lewisburg.
