Jimmie Joe St.Clair, 82, of Griffith Creek, passed away Monday, Oct. 21, 2024 at the Peyton Hospice House following a short illness.
Born Aug. 11, 1942, in Coal City, WV, he was the son of the late Virginia Bell Wills St. Clair. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his grandparents who raised him, Julian Lee Wallace and Bonnie Dale Lilly Wallace, son, Jimmie Joe St. Clair. Jr. and son-in-law Ted Michael Culler.
Mr. St. Clair was a Navy veteran, serving his country from 1959 to 1963. Following his service he moved his family to Lorain, Ohio, where he worked for the Ford Motor Company for 11 years. In search of a simpler life, he moved his family back home to WV to the family farm in Griffith Creek, where he resided till his death. In the course of the time he was here he was a jack of all trades, including being a certified welder and later becoming an over the road truck driver. He enjoyed collecting antiques, attending flea markets and yard sales. Jim also was an avid reader and enjoyed classic movies of the western genre.
Mr. St. Clair is survived by his wife of 64 years, Bobbie Karen Walker St. Clair, daughter, Anita Elaine Culler of Mt. Airy, NC, son Robert Lee St. Clair and wife Angie of Gandeeville, WV, daughter, Chrystal Dale Browning and husband Millard of Griffith Creek, six grandchildren, Donald Wayne Harmon and James Allen Harmon both of Mt. Airy, NC, Shane Mathew Copen and Miranda Karen Joe St. Clair both of Gandeeville, WV, Millard E. Browning, Jr. and Shelby Lynn Browning both of Griffith Creek, WV.
A private graveside service and burial will be at the Alderson Cemetery Fletcher Addition in Alderson. Family will serve as pallbearers. For those wishing to show an expression of sympathy, donations may be made in memory of Mr. St. Clair to the Peyton Hospice House in Lewisburg, WV.
