The Lewisburg House and Garden Club met in a Zoom meeting on Wednesday, Mar. 24. President Suzanne Cronquist presided with 18 members participating.
The speakers for the meeting were Michael McGolden and Scot Lohrke of EcoChar on Soil Engineering for Home Gardeners. Their presentation was very informative and many questions were asked.
Following the program, new officers were installed: Jeri Banton Via as President, Rebekah Foster as the Second Vice President and Sharon Holladay as Corresponding Secretary. Cronquist symbolically passed the gavel to Via and the meeting continued.
President Via began with thanking Cronquist for her so capable guidance of the club the past two years. Carol Olson presented Cronquist with a President’s pin and a certificate for life-long membership in West Virginia Garden Club, Inc. Each committee gave a report to the membership and there being no further business, the meeting was adjourned. A few days prior to the Zoom meeting, former President Cronquist passed the gavel to President Via along with all the books and records of the club.
As a token of their esteem for leading the club through the pandemic year, former President Cronquist was presented with a lovely orchid plant. With warm weather returning, the club plans to begin in-person outdoor meetings in the future.
