United Way of Greenbrier Valley this week announced the inaugural Hill and Holler Dirt Dash. This 5-mile trail run will take place Saturday, Sept. 26. The event will raise funds and awareness for the United Way of Greenbrier Valley and the new and improved trail system of the Greenbrier State Forest.
The Hill and Holler Dirt Dash is five tough but beautiful miles through the Greenbrier State Forest in Greenbrier County. This is a hilly, mostly single track trail race. You will experience six different trails during this challenging adventure. A Kids Fun Run is also planned.
The 5-mile race start time is 9 a.m. and registration is available online at www.aptiming.com/DirtDash for $25. Kids Fun Run is start time is 10:30 and registration is available onsite for $5.
All race proceeds will benefit United Way of the Greenbrier Valley – working to “advance the common good” by focusing on education, income and health. These are the building blocks for a good life – a quality education that leads to a stable job, enough income to support a family through retirement and good health. Our goal is to create long-lasting changes that prevent problems from happening in the first place.
The real power of United Way is its ability to bring together a whole community to make life better for all of us. United Way of Greenbrier Valley is doing just that, teaming up with regional partners, including school districts, local governments, area businesses, community advocates, local volunteers and others to make significant improvements in our region’s education, income and health. With each of us bringing resources, ideas, expertise and commitment to the table, we are creating powerful strategies that will result in measurable and lasting change in our community.
