The Ladies of the Henning Church of God held their Christmas celebration on Tuesday, Dec. 5, in the church fellowship hall. Pastor Robert Hefner, Jr. blessed the meal and the members enjoyed a delicious dinner. President Carole Spencer presided and Donna Scott led in prayer.
Dyan Hefner brought us our devotion, “Just A Simple Home.” This time of year we think about Mary, the mother of Jesus. What about the mother of Mary? Someone had to raise Mary to know the voice of the Lord. She was highly favored by the Lord. Mary’s mother did not have an angel to tell her that Mary would be the mother of Christ. Mary clung to the word of God even in the time of silence and only knew what the angel told her. Who you raise can affect eternity. Mary’s mother raised her the best she knew how. Who are you raising? It is speculated that Mary’s mother was named Anne and her father was Joachim. Dyan also read the words to the song, “Mary, Did You Know?”
All reports were dispensed of due to the Christmas celebration.
Angie Scott will be delivering food items donated by members to the food pantries in Renick and Williamsburg on Monday, Dec. 11. The group will be donating to the Laugh group for Christmas projects. The group will be serving the Maxwelton Ruritans on Dec. 21. The church will be presenting the play, “A Stranger for Christmas,” on Dec. 22 at 7 p.m. The Christmas cantata, “Glorious Impossible,” will be presented on Dec. 24 at 11 a.m. in the morning church service.
