The descendants of Austin Ballard Harvey and his wife, Mary Ann Ellison Harvey held their family reunion on Saturday, June 17 at the Summers County 4-H Camp located ten miles south of Hinton. A goodly number of family and friends were present.
The reunion was called to order with prayer and the usual opening exercises. After preliminary remarks, the following recognitions were observed: The oldest persons present were Wyatt Hinton, 98, Myrtle Harvey, 9, and Raymond Harvey, 90. The youngest person present was Hayden Cosner. The longest married couples present were Thomas and Phyllis Ratcliffe, 58 years and Glen and Flossie Bennett, 56 years. Irene (Harvey) Davis had five generations, and Karen Meadows Foster traveled the greatest distance to attend. Glenna (Harvey) Saunders, 97 last October, was recognized as the oldest living descendant of Austin and Mary Ann Harvey.
The following were mentioned as passing away since last reunion: Joyce Harvey Miller, Dewey Lilly, Harrett Saunders, Steve Bennett, Neal Kellam, Nancy Adkins Bennett, Easter Meadows Lunney, Ward Josh Harvey, Franklin Harvey, Tom Wykle, Joe Ryder, Bob Fox and perhaps others.
It was agreed that we will meet again next year on June 16, 2018, at the same place.
After a blessing, all resorted to the dining hall for a bounty of food.
