A group of Hamilton College (Clinton, NY) students are making the trip from Central New York to Alderson to do community service work during their spring break, Mar. 13-19.
The Hamilton students will volunteer at Friends of the Lower Greenbrier River (FOLGR). They will be doing river cleanups and help teach elementary school children about the water system. FOLGR strives for secure drinking water quality and recreational values of the watershed. It is involved in many projects that help conserve and protect the water resources of the Greenbrier River watershed, such as water monitoring, invasive species cleanup and educational programs.
This trip is part of Hamilton’s 23rd annual Alternative Spring Break (ASB), a volunteer venture which this year consists of nearly 100 students going on 10 different service trips to nonprofit organizations. The groups will travel south for week-long construction projects, direct service work with children, environmental service or community outreach work.
