The Greenbrier Valley Theatre (GVT) 23rd Annual Art Auction will be held on July 15. The auction is made possible by local artists and donors, who help keep this function alive through their invaluable generosity.
Every donation assists GVT in its mission to produce live professional theatre, and includes wall art, handcrafted jewelry and much, much more. This year, donors include local artist Beth Humphreys and returning photographer Laurie Cameron.
A graduate of the Maryland Institute, College of Art, Beth Humphreys has always kept exploring the visual world. She has family roots in Lewisburg and at the WV Fine Artisans Gallery located next door to GVT. For her donation Humphreys used acrylic paint to create layers, textures and color to celebrate the rich local scenery in a 12 inch by 12 inch painting titled “Breezy Summit.”
Laurie Cameron began photographing while a soldier in 1957. In 1964, he studied fine photography under Harold Feinstein and took his first images in West Virginia the following year. He is a member of Allied Artists and of the Pocahontas County Artisan Co-Op. He has donated two photographs this year: a 24 inch by 18 inch photo titled “Bluestone Ridge” and a 20 inch by 14 inch photo titled “Barn Roof.”
A preview party with hors d’oeuvres, beverages and silent auction opens at 6 p.m. The live auction begins at 7 p.m. Tickets to the preview party are $12. For tickets or more information, call GVT’s box office at 304-645-3838 or visit www.gvtheatre.org.
