Board member, Roger Vannoy is part of the water quality team for section 2 (Southern Pocahontas County). However, we need more help. More volunteers are needed for our water quality project, especially in the northern portion of the Greenbrier River watershed (Durbin and Cass), and also the lower portion (Pence Springs, Hinton). The GRWA water quality project teams are taking samples from 18 sites on the main stem of the Greenbrier River from Durbin to Hinton. We have five teams by sections along the entire river, going out on the same day of the month, every month, on the first Tuesday. Want to join a team? A team leader will train you at the site. You don’t have to commit to every month, by being on a team there is flexibility as long as there are at least two people testing. Send us an email greenbrierwatershed@gmail.com or call 304-647-4792 and leave a message.
The Greenbrier River Watershed Association (GRWA) is extending an open invitation to our annual membership and election of officers meeting. Please join us on Wednesday, Oct. 18, 6 p.m. at the Clingman Center in Lewisburg. Come meet us – enjoy some food and beverages and find out more about our many projects. Board members will be available to answer your questions about our ongoing and future endeavors to keep our watershed clean and healthy. Dr. Matthew Williams (WVSOM) will speak about the first three months of our water quality project and the importance of monitoring our watershed. Volunteers will also be recognized for their valuable contributions. We look forward to meeting new people interested in our watershed and increasing our membership.
