Greenbrier Public Service District No. 1 announces extensions to its public sewer system. Line extensions are planned to serve the residents in the areas of Echols Acres and Houfnagle Road.
This is the first part of a multi-phase extension project to provide service to six established neighborhoods around the Lewisburg area. Completion of the project will ultimately serve approximately 540 new customers and help alleviate environmental concerns related to failing septic systems.
Most of the construction will occur in existing public right-of-ways, however, some private property owners have been asked to convey an easement. Even though the District has worked closely with the affected landowners, some easements remain to be secured. As a political subdivision of the State of West Virginia, Greenbrier Public Service District No. 1 has the right to exercise the power of Eminent Domain to construct, maintain and operate public sewer facilities. On Oct. 3, 2016, the District will petition the Greenbrier County Circuit Court to acquire the remaining necessary right-of-ways.
The District plans to go to bid on the project this fall. Any questions regarding the proposed project should be directed to Greenbrier Public Service District No. 1 at 304-645-6632.
