The Greenbrier County Public Library invites the public to enjoy the elegance of The Springhouse Entertainers from The Greenbrier, as well as summer-style refreshments at a free event celebrating the conclusion of the 2014 General Operating Fund Drive Campaign Tuesday, Aug. 19, from 6 to 8 p.m.
Those in attendance will be treated to a performance of The Greenbrier Waltz, which has become a signature event during tea time at the resort. The melody was composed through collaboration with Lewisburg native and musician Tony Nalker. The melody, orchestrated for symphony orchestra, was recorded by members of the National Symphony.
The Springhouse Entertainers at America’s Resort are the vision of Greenbrier owner Jim Justice. The group of six, managed by Dora Wyatt, continues to evolve as an entertainment centerpiece for The Greenbrier, including live cabaret performances in the main lobby. Selections from the cabaret repertoire will be presented to guests of the 2014 Fund Drive Wrap-Up Party at the library.
“We feel privileged to be a part of this important event,” said Jeff Bryant, director of entertainment at The Greenbrier.
The event’s picnic-style menu includes Parmesan chicken, prosciutto with melon, tomatoes with fresh mozzarella, and a rich chocolate dessert. The food will be provided by The Bakery.
The Wrap-Up Party is hosted by Allen and Paula Carson, who are the honorary co-chairs for the 2014 General Operating Fund Drive Campaign. “Please join the Carsons as we celebrate the success of the drive,” said David Nalker, library trustee. “The outpouring of community support has been appreciated.”
The library depends upon non-governmental local support for a significant portion of its operating budget. “As we expand and maintain services, including a seven-day-a-week operation,” Nalker said, “we want everyone to know how important their continuing support is.”
Donations designated for the Operating Fund may be sent to Greenbrier County Public Library, 152 Robert W. McCormick Drive, Lewisburg, WV 24901. More information about the fund drive or library services is available by calling 304-647-7568.
