Eleven high schools sent track and field athletes to Fairlea last Saturday, where Greenbrier East hosted its invitational track meet. Greenbrier East won the day in both the boys and girls divisions.
In the girls category, Pikeview, Greenbrier West, Midland Trail, Summers County, Oak Hill, Richwood, James Monroe, Westside and Princeton followed in points scored, in that order. In the boys division, the order was Pikeview, Summers County, Richwood, James Monroe, Oak Hill, Princeton, Westside, Midland Trail, and Valley.
Greenbrier East’s athletes won a number of events. Maddie McClintick finished first in the 100 meter dash, and first in the 400 meter dash. Lina Hoke won the 200 meter dash, and the 100 meter hurdles. Cami Wagner won the 800 meter dash, and the 3200 meter run. Kaeley Boyd won the 1600 meter run. Finishing in second and third place in that race were East’s Lauren Lindsey and Megan Lindsey. Carley Midkiff won the 300 meter hurdles.
In the 4×100 meter relay, East finished first, with a team consisting of Kassey Wagner, McKenzie Jack, Karalie Rutherford, and Lina Hoke. East also finished first in the 4×200, running the same girls. Greenbrier West finished second, with a team of Makayla Church, Caraline Coughlin, Shae Amick, and Tabatha Baire.
