At their most recent meeting, held on Tuesday, Aug. 26, the Greenbrier County Commission approved a total transfer of $15,500 from savings to checking for Arts and Recreation. The funds will be allocated as follows: $7,000 will be used for mowing along the Meadow River Trail, and $8,500 will be allocated to purchase target machines for the Mountaineer Clay Crushers for the 2025-2026 period.
The Commission then addressed several new business items. They received one bid for the roof replacement project at the Greenbrier County Day Report Center; however, the contractor requested an extension to allow additional bids. A motion was made and approved not to open the sole bid and to accept new submissions under a revised RFP in September. The commission also approved the confirmed separation of employment for Crystal Byer from the Greenbrier County Clerk’s office, effective Aug. 29, 2025.
Additionally, the Commission considered and approved the settlement of opioid litigation claims involving several pharmaceutical companies, including Alvogen, Amneal, Apotex, Hikma, Indivior, Mylan, Sun, and Zydus, as presented by outside counsel.
Further, the commission approved the reallocation of funds for the Hazard Mitigation Grant Program 4605-003 concerning the White Sulphur Springs EMS Generator Project. The original budget was $77,362.85, while the actual replacement cost was $76,920. With the leftover balance and advertising expenses accounted for, $357.15 was approved for reallocation toward the cost of fuel needed to test the generator.
Lastly, public announcements included an open Request for Proposals (RFP) for the Courthouse Window Replacement project and another for website development services. There was also an open Request for Proposal for a Managed Service Provider for Greenbrier County 911 Emergency Management, along with an open request for proposals for the courthouse drainage project.
