The Greenbrier County Commission met on Tuesday, Mar. 11. Transfers from savings to checking for Arts and Recreation included the Greenbrier Valley Theatre receiving $50,000 for 2024-2025 programming, the Town of Alderson Town Park receiving $7,253.93 for 2024-2025 softball field upgrades and bleachers, and Meadow River Trail receiving $532.50 for 2024-2025 consulting expenses, which is a partial AML reimbursement. In total, $57,786.43 was transferred from savings to checking and approved.

The agenda for new business included consideration of payment for Resolution #11 regarding the Rt. 60 East Sewer Project in White Sulphur Springs in the amount of $304,636.89 to go to E.L Robinson Engineering and Viper Contracting. It was noted that a $40 error on the invoicing must be corrected before receiving final approval.

There was also a correction of a motion concerning the distribution of funds to Greenbrier County fire and emergency medical service agencies in the amount of $54,487.64. This motion was approved at a previous Commission meeting, but Commissioner Tammy Tincher explained that the funds may only be used for area fire departments, not EMS services. The original motion was rescinded and corrected to reflect the funds may only be used for fire departments.

The Commission considered Bradley Crance as a new hire employee to fill a vacancy for Assessor’s Property Valuation in the Greenbrier County Assessor’s Office. Lucas Kessley was also approved to fill a vacancy for deputy sheriff in the Greenbrier County Sheriff’s Office. A part-time hire employment application for as-needed courthouse maintenance for applicant Solomon Simmons was also approved.

The Commission considered approving a submission of an application to the CSX Homeland Security and 911 agency for submission of grant applications to invest in a drone and drone program. If awarded will present to the commission for review. The item was approved.

It was also noted that a public hearing to receive comments from the community regarding the amended E911 ordinance will be held Mar. 25 at 10 a.m.
