The Greater Greenbrier Chamber of Commerce will host a public informational luncheon Tuesday, Sept. 24 from noon to 1 p.m. in the B Building of the former Lewisburg Elementary School in Room B7. Sarah Hawkins, advisor from Region 1 WorkForce West Virginia, will be on hand to discuss several pertinent topics for small businesses. On the Job Training, a program where companies can be reimbursed up to 90 percent of new hire wages while under contract, will be discussed. A second program that will be discussed will be the WorkKeys testing and the National Career Readiness Certificate, along with what the test is and the benefits to the employer. If time permits, a third topic about some of the benefits available to employers that are not a requirement of the OJT program such as Fidelity Bonding and the Work Opportunity Tax Credit may also be discussed.
This is a free program, and is open to the public. Please bring your bagged lunch and listen to these informative topics that could benefit all small businesses in some way. Drinks such as tea and coffee will be provided. Please call 304-645-2818 to RSVP to this event.
