A Grand Jury has released indictments against 30 people in Greenbrier County on Oct. 3, 2019. Charges include multiple counts of murder, delivery of controlled substances, and more.
Thomas Dunbar and Amanda Lea Serreno have charges stemming from the January 2018 murder investigation of Chastity Faye Hamm, 24, of White Sulphur Springs.
The original story states:
“On January 18, members of the Greenbrier County Sheriff’s Office, the Greenbrier County Drugs and Violent Crimes Task Force, and the West Virginia State Police responded to a deceased body found behind an uninhabited residence on Anthony Road. On January 19, the State Medical Examiner conducted an autopsy on the body and the cause of death was ruled to be a homicide. Shaela Lynn (McCoy) Abren was identified as the victim.
January 20, investigators with the Greenbrier County Sheriff’s Office discovered a second body, buried in a shallow grave’ in a wooded mountainous area of the national forest property, near the Blue Bend area,’ according to a press release distributed by Sheriff Bruce Sloan. An autopsy was performed, and the cause of death was ruled to be a homicide, as well. The body was identified at Chastity Faye Hamm.”
Dunbar pled guilty in Feb. 2018 to the first degree murder of Shaela Lynn (McCoy) Abren, and was sentenced to life in prison with mercy. Now, much-needed closure is being brought to Hamm’s homicide.
According to the indictment, “Thomas Ray Dunbar, as a principle in the first degree, and Amanda Lea Serreno, as an accessory before the fact, feloniously, willfully, maliciously, deliberately, and unlawfully did slay, kill, and murder one Chastity F. Hamm.” The document goes on to state Dunbar and Serreno, “administered to Hamm, intravenously, a combination of methamphetamine, a schedule II controlled substance, and insulin, with the intention to killing Chastity Hamm.”
Serreno is also being charged with accessory after the fact to murder after allegedly helping Dunbar clean up blood “at or near the crime scene” of the murder of Shaela McCoy.
In a separate case, Edward Alexander Smith-Allen is being charged with murder after an incident that occurred on June 7 of this year in which Alaisia Smith, 17, was fatally shot at Dorrie Miller Park in Lewisburg.
