GEHS Gold Team finishes first at Elk’s Club
On Tuesday, Aug. 18 a 9-hole match was held at the Lewisburg Elk’s Club on the par 34 front 9. The GEHS Gold Team finished first by counting the 3-man total. GEHS total was 105. Individual scores were Madison Erskine 33 (Medalist), Jacobey Gore 35, Luke Hanna 37, Gavin Ray 37 and Joshua White 40. Oak Hill was second with a total of 120. (Only had four players.) Individual scores were Shawn Snuffer 34, Addison Boley 40, Logan Hornsby 46 and Madison Lilly 51. Bluefied was third with a total of 147. (Only had three players.) Individual scores were Joel Carlos 35, Dominick Buzzo 52 and Caleb Pennington 60.
GEHS Gold Team finishes first in Summersville
The Greenbrier East Gold Team finished first at a 9-hole match at the par 35 Nicholas County Memorial Golf Course in Summersville on Thursday, Aug. 20. Five players teams competed and counted the low four-player total. GEHS finished first with a total of 149. Individual scores were Jacobey Gore 35 (Medalist), Madison Erskine 38, Thomas Willis 38, Gavin Ray 38 and Luke Hanna 45. Braxton County finished second with 192. Individual scores were Cameron Long 42, Clay Vincent 43, Gage Vincent 51, Hunter Drake 56 and Gavin Tripltt 56. Nicholas County was third with 204. Individual scores were Oliver Morganstjerne 40, Jason Bradford 46, Kobe Alderman 58, Blake Dawson 60 and Elizabeth Chapman 64. Clay County finished fourth with 225. Individual scores were Colton Moore 50, Seth Stover 50, Nate Schoolcraft 61 and Mike Willis 64.
Coach Terry Koon was on the first Nicholas County High School golf team his senior year in 1965, along with former Nicholas County golf coach of 43 years, Joe Dooley (class of 1966) who retired after last season. Coach Koon attended his 50th High School Reunion in Summersville the weekend after the match on Aug. 21 and Aug. 22 and saw many of his former teammates on their first golf team.
