Dear Brody,
Congratulations on being selected as the 2022 recipient of the prestigious Montrose Award.
The Montrose Award was established in 1952 and is named in honor of Frank Montrose. It is given each year during homecoming to a graduate of the preceding class who not only was an outstanding athlete, but a scholar, a leader, and a person of high moral character. This prestigious award recognizes each year’s outstanding male athlete and honors Frank’s memory. Additionally. it pays tribute to the very promising career that he would have had in Pioneer football had he not fallen victim to nephritis and passed away his freshman year.
We will recognize you during our homecoming parade on Saturday, October 15 and again at the end of the third quarter of the football game as our Glenville Pioneers Face off against Alderson Broaddus University.
We hope that you are able to join us homecoming weekend, and ask that you please let us know if you will be participating in the parade, game recognition, or both.
Parade line up will be at 9:30 a.m. Upon arrival for parade line up, there will be individuals at a registration table at the North Entrance to the University. They will direct you to the placement of the car that you and Zakiyah Winfield, our 2022 Williams Award recipient, will be riding in during the parade.
You have reason to be very proud of this recognition. You will be joining a small, elite group of Montrose Award honorees whose performance in athletics and in the classroom have set a standard of excellence.
If you have any questions, please let Coach Skiles or I know.
Thanks,
Conner Ferguson
