Greenbrier Valley Theatre (GVT) is excited to present The Mystery of Irma Vep: A Penny Dreadful. The mystery farce runs Oct. 31 and Nov. 1 and Nov. 6-8 and 13-15 at 7:30 p.m., with a matinee on Nov. 8 at 3 p.m., as well as a Pay-What-You-Can Preview performance on Thursday, Oct. 30 at 7:30 p.m.
Tickets are $26 for general admission, $23 for seniors and $20 for children/students. For tickets or more information, call the GVT Box Office at 304-645-3838 or visit www.p-vtheatre.org.
In a revival 16 years in the making, Artistic Director Cathey Sawyer and Music Director Kermit Medsker return to the stage to reprise their multiple roles in this satirical romp through all things ridiculous. When Lord Edgar and Lady Enid get mixed up in hunting the werewolf that killed Edgar’s first wife, what they find is a supernatural world much bigger than they imagined-including ghosts, vampires and mummies!
To celebrate opening night, GVT will host a costume contest on Oct. 31. Pre-registration for the costume contest will begin Oct. 27. The $10 entry fee includes a souvenir framed photo. All participants will receive a $5 discount on their ticket to see The Mystery of Irma Vep: A Penny Dreadful that night. Contest check-in will begin at 6:30 p.m. at Greenbrier Valley Theatre on Oct. 31.
Prizes will be awarded in the following categories:
• Most Likely to Scare Little Kids Out of Their Candy
• Most Likely to Win an Award for Costume Design
• Most Likely to Have Audiences Rolling in the Aisles
• Best Couple
• Best in Show
A secret panel of judges will circulate in the lobby before the show, and the audience will have a chance to vote for their “Fan Favorite” at intermission. The top contenders for Best in Show will be posted. Audience members can vote with their ticket and with their dollars for their favorite costume among the finalists. All winners will be announced at the post-show reception.
