The GEHS Golf team played a match Aug. 15 at Summersville for 18 holes on the par 70-course against Nicholas County. The gold team and the green team played against Nicholas County’s seven players. The lowest four scores were counted. Madison Erskine of GEHS was medalist with a 75.
The GEHS Gold Team finished 1st with a total of 312. Individual scores were Madison Erskine 75, Walker Dent 77, Owen Wood 79, Griffin King 81 and Logan Scott 92. Nicholas County finished second with a total of 332: Drew Ward 76, Jason Truman 79, Sherwin Miller 87, Travis Miller 90, Austin Dawson 105, Marshall Newlon 116 and Elizabeth Chapman 131. GEHS Green Team finished 3rd with a total of 355: Cameron Sherwood 88, Thomas Willis 88, Tyler Totten 89, Luke Hanna 90, Lindsey Ray 93 and Jacob White 95.
On Aug. 19, the GEHS Gold and Green Golf Teams played 18 holes at The Lewisburg Elk’s Course par 70-course against three other schools. The low four scores total for each team was counted.
The GEHS gold team finished 1st with a total of 308: Madison Erskine 74 (medalist), Walker Dent 75, Owen Wood 79, Griffin King 80, Tyler Totten 86 and Lindsey Ray 88. Nicholas County finished 2nd with 327: Drew Ward 79, Jason Truman 80, Sherwin Miller 82 and Travis Miller 86. The GEHS green team finished 3rd with 336: Logan Scott 82, Cameron Sherwood 82, Luke Hanna 84, Thomas Willis 88, Jacob White 95 and Karee Diem 122. Richwood was 4th with 337: Mason Mullens 79, Braiden Johnson 82, Tyler Davis 86, Charlie Baughman 90, Tristan Legg 102 and Sheldon Baughman 111. James Monroe was 5th with 353: Ike Judy 75, Eli Judy 92, Ethan Spencer 93, Ben Evans 93, Tyler Bennett 120 and Tanner Sheridan 127.
On Aug. 27-28, the GEHS Green and Gold Teams will play 18 holes against other schools at The Meadows Golf Course at the Greenbrier at 3 p.m. each day on the par 70-course. The GEHS Green Team; Western Greenbrier; Covington; and Nicholas County will play on Tuesday, the 27th and the GEHS Gold Team; Shady Spring; and Richwood will play on Wednesday, the 28th.
