On Aug. 25, the entire Greenbrier East Golf Team (20 boys and 3 girls) played a 9-hole match at the Lewisburg Elk’s Country Club on the par 34 front 9. Richwood, Greenbrier West and Nicholas County all attended with five players each. The low four players total for five player teams was used. The GEHS Gold team finished first with a total of 140. Individual scores were Madison Erskine 32 (Medalist), Thomas Willis 34, Jacobey Gore 35, Gavin Ray 39 and Luke Hanna 43.
Second place was Richwood with a total of 176. Scores were Mason Mullens 35, Tyler Davis 44, Sheldon Baughman 46, Nathan Bayless 51 and Sheldon Mullens 53.
Greenbrier West was 3rd with 179. Scores were Justin Estep 37, Colby Brown 45, Turner McQuain 46, Seth Arbaugh 51 and Alex Ayers 57.
Nicholas County was 4th with 189. Scores were Oliver Morgan-Stjerne 38, Blake Dawson 49, Elizabeth Chapman 50, Jason Bradford 52 and Jacob Foreman 55.
GEHS #4 team finished 5th with 190. Scores were Colin Wiley 40, Sam Jewell 47, Philip Zambos 47, Carrington McCray 56 and Garrett Vaughan 56.
The GEHS Green Team finished 6th with 208. Scores were Jared Whitt 46, Joshua White 50, Seth Grimmett 55, Trevor Whited 55 and Jensen Brown 58.
GEHS #3 team was 7th with 229. Scores were Brett Napier 52, Dylan Vandall 56, Cody Lester 60 and Ryan Nuckoles 61. (DeAndre Griffith had to quit after six holes due an arm that was hurting.) Ryan Boggs, Kara Vaughan and Savanna Soucier played a team Captain’s choice for 9 holes. They finished with a 46.
East Golf Gold Team finishes 1st at Beckley-Briar Patch
The Greenbrier East Golf Gold Team finished first on the front 9 (par 36) of the Briar Patch Golf Course in Beckley on Sept. 1. Four player teams competed counting the low three for a total on the 9-hole match. GEHS golf team was first with a 120 total. Scores were Jacobey Gore 38, Madison Erskine 39, Thomas Willis 43 and Gavin Ray 54.
Woodrow Wilson finished second with 121. Scores were Isaiah Zaccheo 36, (Medalist), Kase Poling 39, Kenny Maiolo 46 and Jackson Hill 48.
Shady Spring finished third with 135. Scores were Kirby Campbell 43, Brandon Keaton 45, Colton Burgess 47 and Ryan Abel 51.
