The GEHS Golf Gold Team played a match Sept. 18 at the Grandview Golf Course (Par 36-front 9) in Beckley for 9 holes against Woodrow Wilson, Princeton and West Side. Each team consisted of four players counting the lowest three scores as a total.
Princeton finished first with 110 total. Scores were Jared Porter 36, Tyler Hillyer 37, Will Hickman 37 and Andrew Wilson 40. West Side was second with 113. Scores were Corey Bowles 33 (Medalist), Drew Bragg 38, Katelyn Sanders 42 and Derek Johnson 52. GEHS was third with 116. Scores were Madison Erskine 36, Griffin King 39, Walker Dent 41 and Owen Wood 43. Woodrow Wilson was fourth with 136. Scores were Kase Poling 44, Thomas Kozar 45, Kenny Mailo 47 and Oliver Bradley 51.
All 12 members of the GEHS Golf Team played their last match on Sept. 19 at the Greenbrier Hills Golf Course (par 35) at Rainelle against Greenbrier West. Greenbrier West finished first with a four-man total of 139. Scores were Jared Jennings 32 (Medalist), Chandler Fitzwater 33, Justin Estep 36, Austin Ransom 38, Seth Arbaugh 50 and Robbie Hinkle 67. The GEHS Gold Team finished second with 149. Scores were Walker Dent 34, Madison Erskine 35, Tyler Totten 39, Owen Wood 41, Griffin King 42 and Lindsey Ray 46. The GEHS Green Team finished third with 170. Scores were Cameron Sherwood 39, Luke Hanna 41, Thomas Willis 45, Logan Scott 45, Jacob White 47 and Karee Diem 68.
The Regional Tournament is set for Tuesday, Oct. 1, at the Berry Hills Golf Course in Charleston. There will be 10 schools of four players each counting the low three total. The low two teams plus the two low medalists not on either of the qualifying teams will go to the State Tournament on Oct. 8 and 9 in Wheeling at Oglebay Park, the Speidel Course.
