Members of Lewisburg House and Garden Club distributed sunflower seeds on Friday, May 26, to students of Lewisburg Elementary School in anticipation of growing the sunflower to maturity to enter the annual Sunflower Contest in September for students from kindergarten-fifth grade.

Visiting Brittany Cleghon’s kindergarten class were Margaret Schleiff and club President Suzanne Perilli-Hancock who passed out the seed packets to the students and explained the growing process for the sunflowers from planting to harvest. They also suggested the children harvest for the birds who winter in West Virginia.
