The Alderson Community Center’s annual fundraising luncheon had an overwhelming response with a complete sell-out, with late arrivals seeing nothing but empty plates and empty chairs as they entered the dining area. The luncheon included an outer lobby quilt display in the auditorium this year. Organizers of the event said, “We expected the usual crowd, but it’s getting bigger every year.” The funds collected will go to the upkeep and renovation of the building, which was recently designated as an emergency shelter.
