If you like to write or think you’d enjoy writing, join author Belinda Anderson for “Fun Fridays,” a writing workshop offered through New River Community and Technical College.
“It’s an hour of fun intended to inject energy into new and ongoing projects,” Anderson explained.
Starting Oct. 7, “Fun Fridays: Creative Writing as Play” will meet for three weeks on Fridays at 10 a.m. Students can attend the class either through an internet conference call connection or by phone (high-speed internet is not required). Class meetings will include lecture, time for questions and participant sharing, and group e-mail follow-up as needed.
Anderson has offered Fun Fridays writing workshops at New River CTC previously, and students taking the class again will enjoy brand-new material. Anderson is the author of four books and an experienced teacher. During the class, she will present a variety of writing concepts, followed by playful prompts, to stimulate both new writers and practicing writers of both fiction and nonfiction.
Former class member Cindy Martin, a retired teacher and writer living in North Carolina, participated in the first “Fun Fridays” workshop. Martin described the class saying, “Belinda Anderson’s wit, wisdom and writing expertise make Fun Fridays a great writing opportunity for budding authors to hone their skills, while challenging the seasoned author to explore new angles. I found Fun Fridays magical and looked forward to each session.”
Tuition for the class is $75, and the registration deadline is Sept. 23. Participants will be emailed the conference call number and access codes after registering for the class.
