Freddy Ray Barnett, 88, of White Sulphur Springs, WV, passed away Friday, Dec. 27, 2024, at the Lewis Gale Hospital – Alleghany, Low Moor, VA. Born Aug. 7, 1936 in Welch, WV, he was the son of the late James McArthur and Annie Alice Walker Barnett. Freddy was a US Army Veteran and had served in Germany from 1954-1956. He was a member of the Neola Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Danny Cale, Jr., sisters, Hazel McNew and Betty Haynes, and brothers, James, Howard and Lloyd Barnett.
Survivors include his loving wife of 66 years, Frances Barnett, son, Freddy Dean Barnett (Susan), daughters, Sandra Cale (Danny) and Sharon Anderson (Rick), sisters, Jean Welch, Joan Jacobs (Robert) and Priscilla Lockhart, grandchildren, Alex Malone, Steven Barnett (Kristen), Alaina Broce (Jacob) and Erin Hiser, eight great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be at 12 noon, Monday, Dec. 30, at the Morgan Funeral Home, Lewisburg, with Pastor Michael Warren officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service, Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be private for the family following the service. In lieu of flowers, donations of sympathy should be made to the Boys Home of Virginia, 414 Boys Home Road, Covington, VA 24426.
