Charmco-Forest Clinton “Shanney” Brown, 77, passed away Sunday, Dec. 3, 2023, in the Rainelle Healthcare Center, following a short illness.
Born Sept. 2, 1946, at Midland, he was the son of the late Clark “Pat” and Maggie (Walton) Brown.
Following high school graduation, Shanney enlisted in the US Air Force. Upon returning to civilian life, he was a mail carrier for the US Postal Service until he was medically discharged. He later took care of amusement games for local establishments.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by three brothers, Fred, Farrell, and Floyd Brown.
Those left to cherish his memory are two sisters, Flossie Smith of Danese and Freda Brown of Charmco; four nieces Delisa Legg (Rob) of Hico, Sherri Faulkiner (Kelby) of Renick, Heather Lesher (Keith) of Nallen, and Kim Alley (Bruce) of Crawley; one nephew, Farrell Brown, Jr. (Valerie) of Ronceverte; and many extended family members.
The family wants to thank Dr. Connie Anderson and the staff of Rainelle Healthcare Center for the good care they gave him over the years he was there.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 8, at Smathers Funeral Chapel with Pastor Bennie Kenney officiating. Burial will follow in the Wallace Memorial Cemetery, Clintonvillle.
Friends may call one hour before the service from 12 noon to 1 p.m. at the funeral home.
