The Ronceverte City Council held their monthly meeting on Monday, Sept. 9, and discussed the current leash laws in effect in the City of Ronceverte and reminded citizens of possible citations related to not following the ordinances.
Council was also presented with Ordinance 2024-05, which prohibits barb wire fencing in residential areas. Leah Smith noted that the ordinance applies to the prohibition of electric fencing, as well as barbed wire fencing. There was no further discussion, and the ordinance was approved unanimously.
Councilmembers also heard details related to the Ronceverte Food Truck Festival coming up on Saturday, Sept. 14. The festival will take place on Edgar Avenue. There will also be live music on Edgar Avenue on Friday, Sept. 13, at the conclusion of the Ronceverte Community Market. Food and arts and crafts will be available beginning at 10 a.m. on Saturday morning and continuing until 9 p.m. A bouncy house will be provided for children and a DJ will provide music during the afternoon with live music beginning at 5 p.m. Terrance Zimmerman will be performing Friday at 7 p.m. Steve Baker will be performing Saturday at 5 p.m., as well as Allan Dale Sizemore at 6:30 p.m, and Ted Clements at 8 p.m.
In other exciting news, Council was advised that Gateway’s miniature golf course is moving along and additional lights are being ordered. Another quote was received for the disc golf targets and will be purchased soon.
The next regular city council meeting will be held on Oct. 7 at 7 p.m. at Ronceverte City Hall.
