Chally Erb is going viral.
A new Facebook community, named UnLock the Cure has been created, which urges people to donate money to ALS research. An accompanying video shows Erb, a longtime Greenbrier Countian, getting his first haircut since 1969.
Erb, a Vietnam veteran, was diagnosed with ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease, in 2014. In the video, Erb encourages folks to donate money to Dr. Richard Bedlack of Duke University, a leading ALS researcher and Erb’s doctor. Anyone who donates $100 or more will receive one of Erb’s dreadlocks.
As of press time, Erb’s video has been viewed over 44,000 times.
If you would like to make a donation to Dr Richard Bedlack’s research, please make your check out to Duke ALS Clinic. Put “dollars for dreads” in the memo and send to: Dr Richard Bedlack MD, PhD 932 Morreene RD, Durham NC. 27705.
