The grand winner in the Sunflower Contest at Ronceverte Elementary School is third grade student Ethan Dowdy, who entered a sunflower with a circumference of 53 inches!
Ethan was presented with a $25 cash prize and a book on birds of West Virginia by the Lewisburg House and Garden Club for raising the largest sunflower entered in the contest at Ronceverte Elementary. Ethan is pictured being congratulated by the principal of the school, Wes Lilly.
The yearly contest is a conservation project sponsored by the Lewisburg House and Garden Club.
