Greenbrier East and Eastern Greenbrier Middle School golf team coaches and families have been selling golf package raffle tickets for four players plus carts to the Old White Golf Course, and the same for the Snead Course at the Greenbrier Sporting Club, to raise money for the GEHS and EGMS Golf Teams.
These packages are good until next year. The teams have done this each year for six years, and thanks to all who have supported them, including The Greenbrier and the Sporting Club, they have raised enough money each year to pay for all of the teams’ golf expenses, including five out of six years traveling to and competing in the West Virginia State High School Golf Tournament in Wheeling in October.
The largest part of team funds were raised during The Greenbrier Classic, which was cancelled this year due to devastation and loss of lives and property that has occurred. “The golf teams’ loss in fundraising is very minor compared to all of the losses that our communities and people have suffered,” said Coach Terry Koon. “We have been praying for all of our neighbors who have been affected adversely by flooding.”
Raffle drawings will be held on Saturday, July 30 (Changed from July 16). Raffle tickets are $20 and donations are appreciated. All donations are tax deductible. Checks can be mailed to Coach Terry Koon, P.O. Box 1848, Lewisburg, WV 24901. To purchase a ticket for $20 for the Old White drawing, make checks payable to GEHS Golf and also for any separate donations. To purchase a ticket for the Sporting Club, Snead Course, drawing, please make checks payable to EGMS Boosters. Include name and phone number to contact those who win.
